Meet the Artists
Tyler Demaree
Tyler Demaree serves as the Director of Choirs at Galesburg Jr Sr High School located in Galesburg, IL. He directs three choral ensembles: Concert Choir, Galesburg Chorale, and Treble Singers, and teaches piano, guitar, music theory, and music appreciation. Prior to this position, Tyler was the Director of Choirs at Riley County High School in Riley, Kansas. He attained his Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Western Illinois University. Since assuming his current position, Tyler has focused on growing the choral program at Galesburg while emphasizing the performance of quality literature, building a choral community, music literacy skills, and vocal technique. Under his direction, students have been consistently selected to perform at district and all-state festival choirs, and Galesburg Treble Singers was invited to perform at the 2023 Illinois Music Education Conference. He also finds opportunities for his choirs to work with collegiate professors and industry professionals.
As a professional choral singer, Tyler is an inaugural member of the professional vocal ensemble withonevoice. Additionally, he is an active member of the Nova Singers, based in Galesburg, IL, and serves on the Nova Singers board of directors.
With a passion for all aspects of 21st-century choral and vocal pedagogy, Mr. Demaree attained his Estill Figure Proficiency in Estill Voice Training and is working toward Estill Master Trainer certification. This has helped him find success in teaching small and large ensembles, musical theatre, and solo voice. In addition to his ensemble teaching, Tyler has music directed various musical productions including “Big Fish,” “Working,” and “SpongeBob the Musical” at the high school and collegiate levels. Tyler is an active member of ILMEA and ACDA.
