Matthew Begale

Matthew Begale is excited to be singing in a professional ensemble again as he spends most of his time conducting the choirs at Lake Forest High School in Lake Forest, IL. As a multi-faceted performer, Matthew has experience performing operas, oratorios (Lansing Symphony Orchestra), and contemporary a cappella music. He sang with The Festival Singers of Florida, and was the section leader at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, FL. Matthew can also be heard as a featured singer on recordings of Music of the Moravians with the Winter Park’s Bach Festival Choir.

During his teaching career, Matthew has led his choirs in large scale works including Schubert’s Mass in G, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, and Loyola Academy’s Lessons and Carols Services. Additionally, he developed competitive a cappella programs, "Nothin’ But Treble" and "The Accafellas." Under his direction, students have participated in Illinois Music Educators Association Honor Choirs, Florida Music Educators State Honors Ensembles, and his choirs consistently received top scores at the Florida Music Performance Assessment Choral Festivals. He is also an active board member of the Illinois Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys playing the piano, boating, and singing with his two kids, Ethan and Eliza, and his partner, Renee.
